“God is sovereign in our joys and our afflictions” is the 3000-year old message of Habakkuk, which is as relevant today as it was then. In this fallen world, we can be certain that some days will be dark, and but for God’s grace, we would faint. Habakkuk teaches us that when we, individually or as a nation, are knocked down by life’s circumstances, we should look up and behold the majesty of the One who created all things. When we see and appreciate His splendour and His sovereignty, our faith is informed. Today, as we hear God’s word, let us ask the Lord to open our hearts so that we might see His hand in the affairs of our nation as a whole and our lives individually.
