Today is Mother’s Day, and we join many nations around the world in celebration of our mothers. Mothers will be encouraged in many ways today through gracious words and kind deeds, but for those of us who follow Christ, our celebration of our mothers should be God-centred. And Scripture is our best guide for celebrating mothers because mothers are celebrated in God’s word. One place in Scripture where mothers are celebrated is Proverbs 31. This passage of Scripture contains the wise words of King Lemuel, from an oracle his mother taught him. Let’s open our hearts and hear God’s word.
