The Cost of Discipleship

November 13, 2016 Speaker: David Humes Series: Sunday Gathering Standalone

Passage: Luke 14:25–33

What word best describes those who are followers of Jesus Christ? If you are like most people, you’ll probably identify “Christian” as that word. However, it is an interesting study to consider the bible’s answer to the question. Since followers of Jesus Christ only began in the New Testament, we have to look to the New Testament for the answer. What is interesting is that “Christian” is not the word that is predominantly used to describe followers of Christ. The New Testament word is “disciple.” Today’s message will underscore this important truth and remind us of Jesus’ own words about the cost of discipleship.
